ILANA JOHNSON, Ph.D.

About me:
I am an adjunct professor at Calfornia State University Sacramento and Napa Valley College and I teach several Anthropology classes including Introduction to Archaeology, Cultural Anthropology, Biological Anthropology, and Biological Anthropology Laboratory.

Archaeology has taken me all over the world including Belize, Iceland, Mexico, and Peru.  I have worked in Peru for the last 10 years and have excavated at several Pre-Columbian sites focusing on the Moche, Pukara, Tiwanaku, and Inca cultures.

I conducted my dissertation research  at one of the earliest urban cities in South America, Pampa Grande.  I focused on the social and economic dimensions of Moche households and I investigated the changes that occurred with the development of urbanism in the middle class domestic areas at the site.
