BELIZE 1999

My first archaeological field project was part of a field school in the tropical forest of Belize.  We lived Swiss Family Robinson style in wooden dormitories with mosquito nets over our mattresses.  We wore bug spray day and night, had no running water, and ate nothing but beans and rice (with an occasional plantain or two).   I excavated two domestic structures from several house groups in the Maya town of Dos Barbaras.  I also visited several amazing Maya sites including Tikal in Guatemala and Xunantunich in Belize.
