NORTH COAST, PERU 2003

This was my first season on the north coast of Peru, where I worked at the sites of San Jose de Moro and Portachualo de Charcape. My excavations at Charcape forcused on the domestic sector and explored the role that the hinterland settlement played in the Late Moche political and cultural spheres. During this field season, I visited many important coastal archaeological sites including the impressive Pyramids of Moche and Chan Chan. I also traveled to the highlands where I visited Huaraz, Chavin, and Wilkawain.
